Water in the Gas Tank
When I went to nursing school, I thought doctors were being trained to see the whole person, the way nurses are. Then a surgeon told me diet didn't matter for a cancer patient's recovery — food is food. I thought to myself: then let's put water in the gas tank of your Porsche, because a liquid is a liquid.
That moment set something in motion — a career-long thread about what gets missed when we treat a body like a collection of separate parts instead of one whole person. It took my own body, years later, teaching me the same lesson before I really understood it.
This is just the beginning of the thread — I follow it further on Substack. Read the full piece on Substack.
If this is speaking to something in you, come move it through your body. I teach Qigong Thursdays and Saturdays at 9:30am at Collective Wellness of Summerville — no experience needed, just come as you are. Reserve your spot.
